Scale: SCP12-17 (dependant on experience) (£12.70 to £13.95 per hour) £24.496 – £26.845 (Pro rate).
Halebank Parish Council is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a sound knowledge of local government administration and finance. Previous experience as a Clerk or Deputy Clerk would be welcomed.
The Clerk to the Council is the Proper Officer of the Council and as such is under a statutory duty to carry out all its functions and to serve or issue all notifications required by law of a Local Authority's Proper Officer. The Clerk will be responsible for ensuring that the instructions of the Council, in connection with its functions as a local authority are carried out.
They will be expected to advise the council on, and assist in the formation of overall policies and produce information required for making effective decisions. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and IT skills and the flexibility to deal with a variety of situations and tasks. Excellent verbal written and interpersonal skills are also essential.
The clerk is the Responsible Financial Officer, managing the council's procedures, budgets accounts, contracts, and financial reporting and completion of annual internal and external audits.
Candidates will ideally have financial experience and knowledge of local government practices.
Hours are mostly flexible, and it is primarily a "work from home" arrangement, but applicants will need to be within travelling distance of the Halebank.
